First Ever Official Game Ends in a Tie

4/6/24

FC Bartlesville Buffaloes - Arkansas Legacy FC 3:3 (1:2)

The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) kicked off in Bartlesville, Oklahoma with very windy conditions that presented a big challenge to both teams. In front of about 200 people, the points were split as the game finished with the score of 3:3.

In a game where the Buffaloes dominated for the majority of the time, Arkansas Legacy FC scored first after a counter attack.

The result was tied when Filip Maksimovic scored the first official goal in the history of FC Bartlesville. The assist came from midfielder Lucas Pardo who played Filip over the back line. FC Bartlesville was attacking furiously, creating chance after chance but not managing to get ahead. After another mistake, Arkansas Legacy FC capitalized to get ahead right before the half time.

It took FC Bartlesville 25 minutes into the second half to equalize again. Luka Pekovic and Kirill Pakhomov did a fantastic job of forcing a turnover after which Pakhomov played Cristobal Goldberg in space who was able to put the ball onto his stronger left foot and place it into the bottom left corner.

In the 83rd minute, Kirill Pakhomov put the Buffaloes ahead after a great individual moment. Kirill took on the 3 opponents and scored with his left foot after shooting the ball across the goal.

Everything seemed to be in its place right before the end when after a free-kick referee made a very questionable decision and called a penalty kick for the Arkansas Legacy FC. The guests managed to equalize, thus ending the game at 3-3.

“Games like this one today is why we all love this sport.”, said the head coach Luka Milicevic. “We just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. I want to thank the fans who came out and supported us, I hope we provided a good experience to them”.

The Buffaloes are on the road next Saturday when they will face the Arkansas Wolves.
